We welcome making joint venture with Iranian and foreign investors for development of domestic petrochemical industry: managing director of National Petrochemical Company 

In the inaugural ceremony of Iran Plast 2010 International Exhibition, the managing director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) reiterated that this company welcomes making joint venture with domestic and foreign investors in line with fulfilling its duty in terms of developing national oil and gas industries.

He announced about inauguration of Arvand Petrochemical Company and stated that lack of PVC will be removed by the end of this year.

Eng. Abdolhossein Bayat further referred to the plastic industry as one of the main sectors of oil industry in terms of job creation and mentioned that considering high potentiality of domestic plastic sector and the amount of producing plastic products, this industry can creates jobs for over 500,000 persons.
 
Some serious steps have been taken by the national petrochemical industry in terms of boosting production of basic polymers over the past decade, the official noted and referred to establishment of Mehr Petrochemical Company through making joint venture with the foreign investors and Ghadir Petrochemical Company by the private sector as the last measures taken in this due.

He further pointed to the new plan of National Petrochemical Company in terms of providing propylene feedstock by establishment of Salman Farsi Petrochemical Company through making joint venture with the private sector as a proper opportunity for boosting production capacity of polypropylene and related products in the country.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the managing director of National Petrochemical Company called on the oil minister to continue his attention to the issue of providing feedstock required in the petrochemical industry due to the significant role of this sector in the oil industry as well as other important industries such as the chemical, plastic and rubber industries.

He further pointed to supporting construction of private petrochemical complexes and making joint venture with the foreign companies as some honors of this company and stated that in addition to increasing its production capacity, this company has played some key part in boosting output capacity of petrochemical industry in the private sector and joint venture projects, and production of over 1.5 million tons of basic polymers through 3 joint venture and 3 private projects over some past years proves this issue. 

Nearly all new plans of National Petrochemical Company are underway by the private sector or through making joint venture with this sector; Bayat notified and put the amount of polymer production at about 4.2 million tons through 17 plans in this due.

National Petrochemical Company has been changed from a unit in charge of the production affairs of petrochemical industries to a policy-making and adjusting entity as the result of implementing Article No. 44 of the constitution, the official further noted and highlighted that this company has had the best performance in terms of transferring production task to the people and it is hoped that it could fulfill this duty through ceding shares of Khalije Fars Holding Company by the end of this year.

It should be considered that by privatization of the units, this industry will face some new opportunities as well as challenges which require setting new strategies, Bayat commented and referred to paying serious attention by the private sector to the issue of exports as the most important one.
